Re: Metformin for Non-Insulin ResistantFrom: Sheri (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 23 Nov 2002 11:27:07 -0600 (CST)
Shalini, I didn't fit the exact description of insulin resistant, but my reproductive endocrinologist put me on metformin anyway because of success with other women with a similar profile. The syptoms of PCOS are there, and many symptoms of insulin resistance, but not the "numbers", because I fell within the normal range on all of my labs. She said that she's had success treating with metformin alone or in combination with clomid in women like me. My own opinion is that my own "normal range" for the insuline, glucose, and hormones is outside the normal range for the average person. I think that's why we're all here on this forum. I'm thrilled that there's a place we can talk and share frustrations and joys. I hope to find a support network here in Kansas City as well.
