Re: to amelie Re: dealing with cravingsFrom: Amelie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 30 Oct 2002 15:35:13 -0600 (CST)
Orange flavored candies. It's just a joke, though. No one sane likes orange. Avoid all simple sugars, period. I actually find that if I give in and eat a piece of candy, I will eat more without realizing it. So I made some "sweets" for me to have a taste of once in awhile, and if I overindulge, no biggie. I am working on a lemon bar recipe, I'll post it as soon as I get it to come out right. I've been doing low carbs since I found out a month ago I had PCOS. I am not insulin resistant, but went on an IR plan through a registered dietician. I haven't lost tons of weight, but then, I haven't GAINED any either, and I'm on a new bc pill, which always makes me gain (not yasmin! I love it). I posted the pumpkin pie ice cream recipe on the diet forum. I have been coming up with lots of yummy foods to eat that keep me in the low carbs range. I refuse to buy the microwaveable meals or go on a liquid diet, I feel like the only way to be healthy is to make sure you know how to cook healthy meals low in fat and carbohydrates. I also incorporate really complex carbs into my diet, and I have stopped eating the junky protein bars for my two snacks, instead I eat a few grapes with sunflower seeds or almonds or walnuts. I eat 15 carbs for breakfast (translates to: 1/2 apple or pear and a handful or walnuts or almonds, and one piece of domino sized soft cheese) 2 (one before lunch and one after) 15 carbohydrate grams snacks (like the grapes or diet toast with cream cheese or something), 30 grams for lunch (2 pieces of grilled chicken with green beans over 1/2 cup of steamed rice~if made at home, I do a cup of brown rice), and a 30 gram carbo dinner, similar to lunch. Sometimes I do tofu, sometimes I do fish or chicken or steak. Always with green veggies, not too much sauce or dressing. I don't eat after 7 unless I've been working all day long. I have started drinking hot and iced tea more often, much less diet soda. I exercise less now than in summer. I need to up that, and maybe I'll lose some more weight. Okay, done. Anyway, sorry about the orange candy joke. take care, ~Amelie
