Re: Questions?!?!?From: Barb (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 29 Oct 2002 02:08:08 -0600 (CST)
Sonnet put it all in a nutshell. You aren't imagining these things and I too, have been proked and prodded and first told that I had syndrome X..,although I have also been through the mill with other health issues that may or may not be related to pcos...who knows.. My only suggestions would be to see a doctor that can listen, think and provide you with time and understand what this syndrome is and what long term effects it can have on someone if left untreated. There is definitely hope, but I know that I too have become hopeless...split with my husband and have had so many difficulties with my health and I blame myself for everything when I should not.We didn't ask for this illness. It took me almost four years of screaming to be heard to finally find doctors that took my symptoms seriously and finally got me treatment.I know how devestating it can be when a doctor tells you that you are tired and breathless because you are either overweight or unconditioned ,of which at the time,I was not either. Now I am just pretty uncondtioned, yet trying hard daily to get my health back.I feel it was really stolen from me.At first the endo I seen also brushed me off saying I had a pcos type syndrome as now I don't portray any signs of hairloss, hairgrowth, acne or obesity, but have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and Insulin resistance. She didn't even bother to connect pcos and IR together. If I had not resorted to screaming to see another endo...I would have never known I was Insulin resistant and never put on medications to help this pre diabetic condition.
