I used to get hot flashes too. My ignorant endocrinologist was giving me
estrogen patches to treat it, unsuccessfully. I figured out that it was my
insulin response. When I ate carbs, I would radiate heat a foot away from my
skin. When I didn't eat right over the course of a day, I'd be a space heater
and sweat profusely at night. However, when I limit my carbs a lot, my hot
flashes are much better. Now, most days, I'm only hot just before I wake up
in the morning, and sometimes not even then. When I get hot I eat a piece of
cheese, and I'm fine in a few minutes.
