One other thought: the most common cause of liver cancer is that it is spread from somewhere else. Since the liver is a filter, and most blood passes through the liver pretty soon after leaving other organs, it's common for it to get trapped there. Have other sites of cancer been identified? Has a biopsy been done to see if it's a primary tumor or a metastasis?
