Does PCOS get progressively worse, even with med?

Just a quick question. After reading everyone's stories - good and bad, I'm still unsure as to what happens as time goes on. I'm 26, IR and on metformin for PCOS and IR, and wondering if the symptoms of PCOS will get worse despite the medication, as I get older? I have the usual problems - facial hair, overweight, etc - and am exercising and following a low-GI diet, which may be paying off. I also take Aldactane (recently prescribed). Will the symptoms get worse as I get older?
