Hypothyroidism is one reason for low-body temp. However, it's not the only reason. Some people just have a low set-point. The range for normal temperature is a couple degrees, with everyone having their own "normal."

If you're suspecting hypothyroid, it's a simple blood test. Or, you could be like my husband, and have a normal low temp. His is 97, as a baseline, and his thyroid is normal.
