Re: Anyone taking XanaxFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 9 Oct 2002 00:56:31 -0500 (CDT)
Hi Barb, You have got so much potential! You are bright, witty and beautiful-need I say more.[I wish I had your Barbie doll good looks]. I've been reading your posts the last month and am so very sorry to hear about all that is going on in your life. This may be what is making you so ill again. All illness seems to flare with increased stress.I can imagine how your BP is at the time of the heart palps and the xanax is probably going to take a while to get used to.Please don't stop this medication before giving it a chance to work. Many meds can be addictive, but it does not mean that you will become addicted to them.I would start with the dose your doctor put you on and then increase in increments of 0.25 till you reach two 0.5 pills four times per day for your anxiety.Heart valve problems as Mitral Valve Prolapse will cause so much anxiety. If after two weeks you find that your heart beat has not slowed down some-then you need to find a different cardiologist.I worked for one as you know for years. Some will just dismiss this as a sinus tachy and tell you that you need to live with it as it requires so many time consuming tests that usually take a year to get done.Have they done a holtor for a month on you? That should be done.An average resting beat of 89 is still too high especially since you exercise daily and are of a good weight. The 135 BPM after eating can also bee a food sensitivity.Have you read the Pulse book?It is about taking your pulse after eating to see how it increases.Any time a food that you may be allergic to is ingested;your heart will spike by 20 or more beats.Anymore than 10 beats after eating can be food allergies. Are you gluten intolerant? You need to get to the US Mayo Clinic no matter what.Money or not, there has to be a way and if I could help you I sure would.I think in your case they are looking soley at the PCOS aspect and attributing all these heart palps to carbs in your case as you wrote to me,but I think that you also have conflicting [as you mention]messages from your specialists and how frustrating that must be.I was that route already. Many women don't realize that this syndrome is related with many heart problems later in life and I know that you are now in your forties and had been just diagnosed last year.My aching heart for you! Could it be that you are on too high a dose of glucophage? I know you have increased the dosage. There are many things that can cause a fluttery heart;one being that you most probably are extremely sensitive to carbs and the other being that you may be overdosing on water.I know you drink quite a lot of water, but this may be throwing your electrolyes off and then you can get these heart palps. You also may be deficient in potassium if you have diarrhea.Have you had this checked at times you had severe heart palpitations followed by diarrhea?I am just looking for some answers for you as I know how hard you have been trying with your Glucophage and low carbing and exercise.I wish I had the determination that you do.You are strong girl and you will make it -I just have that feeling. Keep your chin up.Know we are all here for you and please give me call or email me.It has been a while since we've talked.I miss your friendly smile. [for anyone wondering-I met Barb here in Winnipeg -I moved here a few months back].I visit this forum every so often wondering how you are doing and have tried to call you but we keep missing each other.Your yahoo mailbox is full. Barb is a great person and has given me so much support with my weight problems and self esteem issues.I cannot thank her enough. She has been a mentor and a friend. She sees me in a different light than I do myself and has given me back some self confidence, although she is just too gorgeous.I wrote her personally and she wrote me back honestly and we met and what a great person. Her with all her problems took the time to listen to me cry about losing my hair. If you seen this poor girls file-man,you would want to cry.I don't know how you do it but you do it.You will get through all of this with your positive attitude. You keep getting back on that horse and that is one thing I admire most.I lose a handful of hair running my hands through my scalp and spend a whole weekend depressed in bed.Your posts encourage me that there is more to life than to spend days in bed depressed about things that cannot be changed. I no longer do that since I met you Barb since I see the pain and torment that you have had to live with. I am trying to encourage you as you did for me when I was down and moved to Winnipeg. Natalia
