Re: Anyone taking XanaxFrom: Kimberly (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 8 Oct 2002 01:29:20 -0500 (CDT)
Barb - please stick with the xanax. It might be uncomfortable for awhile, but you HAVE to know what is causing your problems - and if it is anxiety, you really need to know. Most drugs in this class need several weeks to over a month to begin working at their full capacity. I'm not sure about xanax - but do some research and find out how long it takes to fully kick in- that way you will know when you should stop it if it's not working. I started taking wellbutrin for smoking and it took 6 weeks TO THE DAY for the side effects to go away. I didn't think I was gonna be able to stay on it, but I swore I'd give it the full six weeks, and I'm so thankful I did. Perhaps you should try some valium or other similiar drug to see if that helps. I'm not saying you should become dependant on all sorts of drugs - I'm more interested in ruling things out so you can have a better chance at getting better. (i.e. if valium and xanax can't get you and your heart to calm down, you need to look more aggressively to the physical aspect and stop worring so much about the psychological aspect) I know you are health conscious and it is hard for you to take meds, but life will not be worth living until you get this under control - so dope up girlfriend, and find out if anything can help you! ;) The biggest mistake you can make is giving up on the xanax before it's had time to work - it could be the answer to some of your problems, and if you quit now, it is unlikely you will ever try it again, and that might keep you from EVER feeling better. Keep your chin up and relax as much as you can. We're all rootin' for you.
