Hi Cathy,

high levels of prolactin can be associated with PCOS, but only if it is part of an overall pattern of symptoms and hormone levels.

High levels of prolactin can also be due to pituitary problems (I think). Treatment is often a drug called bromocriptine (I think). Your doctor should carefully screen you for other causes before a diagnosis of PCOS is made. If necessary, you should be referred to an endocrinologist.

BTW - if you have high prolactin levels, do you have breast discharge?

Best wishes and hope you get some answers soon.

Sally
