We at the Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome Association (PCOSA) are focused on making progress towards our goals, so we’d like to take this opportunity to share with you what we’ve been able to accomplish in recent months and years with your help:

*Developed a premiere web site which receives an average of over 1.2 million hits per month. *Acquired 10,000+ subscriptions to our email lists. *Responded to 18,000+ patient and medical professional inquiries. *Fielded over 2,000 telephone calls since January of this year alone. *Secured 1,000+ current PCOSA memberships. *Provided thousands of patient referrals to medical professionals. *Enabled the development of local chapters in virtually every U.S. state and international sister organizations. *Conducted several physical and online events including our annual conference and participated and spoke at events sponsored by hospitals and other medical and community organizations. *Sent hundreds of press kits and conducted hundreds of interviews for the media resulting in articles on PCOS in Health, Ladies Home Journal, Newsweek and many others. *Published several email and print publications on PCOS including our quarterly PCOS Bulletin. *Assisted medical professionals and researchers in the advancement of understanding and treatment of PCOS. *Formed a network of contacts with other organizations, medical professionals, media and patients.

While our accomplishments have been tremendous, there is still much more that needs to be done. As a non-profit organization with limited resources, this is often difficult.

So, how can you get involved? It’s simple – DONATE a new or unused item with a minimum value of approx. $25 for our upcoming PCOSA Online Silent Auction for Aid, Awareness and Advancement taking place November 23-30, 2002. Here are five ideas to get you started:

*Look around your house for unused holiday, birthday or wedding gifts. *Talk to your friends, family, local business owners, church, school or your employer to see if they have items they’d like to donate. *Visit your local retailer to purchase either an interesting item or a gift certificate for a service such as for a haircut or massage. *Contact your own PCOS-treating medical professionals to secure donations. *Have several small things you’d like to donate that don’t individually have a value of $25? Consider grouping them together as one item.

The holidays are just around the corner so we are looking for a broad range of items therefore, any and all donations will be appreciated…unless of course, they are sweaty gym clothes or similar items. Please note that all auction donations must be received by November 15, 2002.

If you are interested in making a donation please email information about the item(s) you’d like to donate to Ashley Tabeling, Auction Coordinator at atabeling@pcosupport.org or contact her if you have questions.

Thank you for your continued support!
