bleeding.From: Amelie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 23 Sep 2002 13:07:23 -0500 (CDT)
Hiya. Just got of phone at Kaiser with advice nurse at OBGYN who'd never heard of this. My insulin readings are not in, but my fasting glucose is 97. What does that mean for someone like me? The nurse said it was perfectly normal. I told her I'd started a low carb diet a week before, does that effect how much glucose is in your blood in that short a time frame? Also, I asked her about bleeding on provera. First she started telling me about depo provera. I explained I am on the oral version. I feel better on it, strangely (as they keep asking me if I'm depressed on this med, even the pharmacist warned me. I say "well, I have been CRYING at the drop of a hat, but I feel better since Friday, in my body." I feel calmer, like my body is cooler and not adrenalined), but I have not stopped the steady red goo that I have been dealing with for months and ages (without actually having periods very often). The provera is to start a period through withdrawal bleeding, clean me out, and then I am to start on yasmin. (I have read on other message boards that yasmin causes hair regrowth on your head in most women, I have temple and top thinning, but not too noticeable with layers), but mainly i'm going to be taking it for the new progesterone it is jam packed with. I am starting to think I have hysterical bleeding, as, 4 days later, after starting provera, it hasn't stopped the initial bleeding that I was dealing with. Like I LIKE to bleed, or something, for the attention. Oh yeah. I bleed nonstop. I'm a lucky one, baby. I love when they say "saturating a pad every 15 minutes" as if bleeding steadily nonstop is somehow better than bleeding to death all at once. I do saturate pads very often, usually after something extremely fun (like sex or playing tag with the neighborhood kids), but on provera I have already worked out twice with no INCREASED panicky bleeding, just the steady deal. Anyway, just wondering if anyone else has this, if they have tried provera, and if the steady stream actually "periodizes", or if this so called "withdrawal" bleeding is going to be more of the same (and should I just start taking yasmin after my 10 day provera is done.) Much love,
-- Amelie
