Re: A BIT CONFUSEDFrom: paula (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 20 Sep 2002 08:03:57 -0500 (CDT)
a few years ago i was in a similar situation. i had been diagnosed with pcos as a child, but it was never treated. at 25, i weighed 363, was type 2 diabetic, had high blood pressure, never had natural periods, was covered with excess hair, and desperately wanted to get pregnant. i had been married 5 years. i started on glulcophage 1500mg/daily in 1999. i started the zone the same year. in jan of 2002, i had lost 100+ pounds, diabetes and high blood pressure were under control completely, hair growth had diminished significantly and i began having natural periods. in nov of last year, i became pregnant with my son. i am now holding a 3.5 wek old wiggly baby and typing one handed... i tell you this so you know the glucophage will very likely work....eventually...and if you help it along. even if you aren't overweight, diet and exercise changes work wonders on the endocrine system. you should have a period medically induced every three months if you aren't having them naturally. clomiphene is a drug used to make you ovulate. it may work immediately depending on your body..but you should have a healthy uterus before getting pregnant, and if you haven't had a period in 18 months, it isn't too healthy in there right now. i have never known a doc to give this to induce a period. hope this helps! love, paula Liam 08/26/02
