Re: PCOS and Weight LossFrom: Sheleigh (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 18 Sep 2002 14:17:45 -0500 (CDT)
I exhibited all PCOS symptoms before I began gaining weight, so in my opinion, weight gain doesn't always exacerbate the symptoms. Also, part of PCOS is that it makes it more difficult to lose weight even through exercise and a controlled diet. Before I went on Met, I excercised 5 times a week at 45 minutes a shot, as well as eating a low fat, low carb diet (while still gaining weight). It wasn't until I was on Met that I began to see results. I have also read that some doctors are beginning to believe that the Pill actually exacerbates insulin resistance, which again in my case I gained all of my weight while on the Pill (40 lbs worth) and still continued to gain even after stopping it. I wish you the best of luck, and congrats on your weight loss!
