Recent miscarriage and PCOS-- Glucophage questionFrom: Amie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 13 Sep 2002 21:46:29 -0500 (CDT)
I was finally diagnosed with PCOS at age 31 after years of frustration and trying to conceive. My Fertility Specialist prescribed clomid and we got pregnant in 4 months. I recently miscarried at 9 weeks, even with daily injections of projesterone because my levels were so low. I'm not too overweight (I recently lost 25 lbs. on WW), I'm not losing my hair, and I don't have diabetes; or elevated insulin levels. I do have excess hair growth everywhere, some acne, and I gain my weight around my middle. I was also treated for hyperplasia when I was 27, and I've had irregular periods and weird bleeding patterns my whole adult life. My Fertility Specialist just prescribed Glucophage. Does anyone have any advice or words of wisdom for me? Do you think the Glucophage will help since I'm not insulin resistant? Do I need to start back on the clomid or just try Glucophage alone? Any comments would be greatly appreciated!
