Hello:

I am 22 years old. I have Latino background in my family. I got my period when I was 12 years old. But I have always missed months, once or twice an entire year before I could get it again. My periods tend to be exhausting for me. As I've notice that I become sick during this time, coincidentally I'll have a cold, or a stomach problem. I get migraines, pretty bad ones, sometimes. I was a college student decided to take this year off. I work full time. I also participate in rescuing animals. Since I worked full time I got insurance, and decided to take advantage of it, and started going to the doctor to get check-ups. I started to show my dr all my problems. I gained over 100 lbs in less then two years. Which is totally weird, because I hardly eat but once a day, maybe twice. Due to my busy schedule. I was not exercising but active walking around campus, all my past jobs were physically strenous. And yet I still managed to keep gaining weight. I started growing hair on my face, my chest hair darkened, my arm hair darkened, it was coming out of no where. I feel tired a lot, I can barely get the motivation to do very much. I feel like I never get enough sleep. I get anxious or depressed easily. I still continue to miss my periods but when I did get them they were 'killers' bloated, sick, nauseaus, upset stomach, lots of blood loss, painful, just sucked the life out of me. I couldn't understand, because Tylenol, Advil, Ibuprofen, Asprin, Teas, did not do anything. I was sicker then a dog. I honestly felt alone because my family just blew it off as woman issues, my boyfriend would feel bad for the first day, and say okay well stuff needs to get done, so despite my feeling like crap, I'd have to get up and do the stuff I needed to do. I had tests done, I had the ultrasounds, they found a ruptured cyst but then they assumed that it was because I was getting my period soon. They tested my glucose and that came back fine. Did blood work all fine. Just recently had a pap done...haven't found out the results yet. So I don't diabetes. I have never played around to try to get pregnant, as I don't plan to have kids. So I don't know if I'm infertile or not. I read the info on here and feel like fit perfectly in most of these symptoms, but I do not want to diagnose myself as I'm not a doctor. I feel like no one has been able to say. Hey you have this! Or you don't have it. I don't have straight answers and it bothers me. I would like to know if anyone can recommend a doctor in the Richmond, Virginia area. I want to find out what I have. If I don't have PCOS. Then what do I have? These issues within my body are not or can't be normal.

I wanted to give my background info so I can get some answers. And I feel like just maybe I can find them here.

In advance thanks for your assistance in this matter. And I wish many of you positive thoughts for your own situations and hope that you find peace amidst your storms.

Sincerely, S.A.R. An Unclear Confused "Possible PCOS" person.
