Hi, I am new to the site. I am British, and am currently undergoing investigations to see if I have PCOS. I think that my symptoms make it fairly clear, but we shall see. I'm a member of the British site for PCOS sufferers.

I am spending time researching diets that other PCO women have found useful. I was disturbed to read about the extremes that women have gone through with established diets, particularly Liz on the Atkins diet eating nothing but meat and cheese.

I haven't spent enough time on this site to see what other women have tried, and would welcome any suggestions. My personal research has shown me that the recommended diets are low glycaemic ones, but there are so many! I guess it is a matter of finding the one you can live with.

In Britain, the one diet recommended most is the Montignac Method, by a Frenchman Michel Montignac. It rules out high glycaemic foods like sugar, refined grains and potatoes, is a food-combining diet, and there doesn't seem to be that much deprivation involved! Many people in Britain and Europe seem to feel well on it, so perhaps Liz might find this useful. I haven't tried it, but both of my sisters have and swear by it - they have lost weight and have stacks of energy. Well worth a try I'd say, it beats pure meat and cheese!
