Hi Lydia,

I am a Nursing Student who also has PCOS and just had my endocrine lecture.

The Dowager's hump is from glucocorticoids-a steroid that is either produced in the body or from taking steroids like predisone). It looks like a hump just below the back of the neck, level with the shoulders. Gives the appearance of more of a prehistoric human form in a side view as it slopes the neck and shoulders. Any endocrine textbook would probably have a picture for you. Or even a nursing textbook like mine-under medical/surgical nursing.

Hope I helped! Lindsey
