Re: Cholesterol/For ReneeFrom: Renee (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 30 Aug 2002 07:53:30 -0700
Sure. Just ask your doc to do a fasting chol. and to increase your gluc. Just have a reason why. Rehearse it ahead of time, and be prepared to sound like you know what you're talking about (not that you don't, but we're often presumed to not know much by physicians, so you have to over come that before you start). When I wanted to increase my dose, I just told my doc that I didn't think I was getting the benefit I thought I could, and wanted to increse my dose, and stated the level I wanted. He agreed, and asked me to follow-up in 3 months. One thing I do, also, is request to do the labs before my visit, so we can discuss them while I"m there. We both know what he's going to order, it's all routine, so it saves me a trip to see the levels. Fortunately, I have a physician I can easily make suggestions to, since he respects me as a fellow health professional, and someone very educated about PCOS and my own health. Just ask. Always ask for anything you want. The worse that will happen is that they say no. Then you can always go to plan B, whatever that may be in that case. But, they may say yes. Renee
