Re: Vaginal medications (j/k rant)From: Renee (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 29 Aug 2002 07:50:24 -0700
Compazine is often done by rectal suppository, since an oral med won't work due to the vomiting. If you have an IV line in already, they can inject it, but that doesn't work if you're home. I don't know enough about prometrim to know about the effectiveness of oral vs vaginal. What was the reason for the metronidazole (flagyl)? It's an antibiotic. Was it for a bacterial vaginal infection? Then it may have been highly appropriate. I would think that the migrane shot could have been done in any muscle area, such as the shoulder (deltoid) or thigh (quadriceps). But, maybe there's a good reason for it. Victoria, you know you that you can always ask questions. When you're not sure of the reason for an administration route, ask why, or ask if you can take it via another means. Sometimes they'll say yes. Sometimes there is no choice. Renee
