Re: Sleepy driverFrom: Koolaide (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 29 Aug 2002 01:49:59 -0500 (CDT)
Hi Teresa, I'm sorry you are having a problem with getting tired. I am a truck driver by trade and have taken courses on fatigue but more than that, see almost daily the effects. By that I mean the accidents. When you are driving, this may sound silly, but pay attention. So many people just sit and stear the car, that's where the hypnosis part comes in. Keep your eyes moving from mirror to road to your gauges to mirror to road etc. etc. Force yourself to keep track of everything around you, keep a running commentary if that helps. What car is beside you, behind you, in the other lanes. Yes, right outloud, your passengers may think you are nuts, but it will help. Not only will it help you with your sleepiness, it will make you a better driver when you know exactly what is going on around you. I just cannot tell you how many times I see sleepy drivers almost crash right into me and my big rig, it scares me to death ! I see it every every every day. Please, be careful and if you are tired when you drive during the day, make alternate plans. It's just not worth going under 18 wheels for. Good luck and I hope these tips help. Let me know if I can offer more, and truly I don't mean to preach at you, I'm just concerned. Bonnie
