I do know that vigourous exercises can delay menses. I also know that when I was trimmest, fittest and teaching aerobics part time that I had delayed periods. This may be from the PCOS.I don't know. But I do know that I have had that happen to me and this was years ago before diagnosis of pcos and the doctor had told me that many athletic women have absence of menses.Now,again..looking at women atheletes..don't their hormones sometimes get screwed up?

But,I am also exercising more again and having periods too often.Possibly because of the Glucophage that I started a couple months back.Again...I don't know.Just thought I'd jump in and answer what I have experienced myself.
