no, some women have perfectly normal cycles. PCOS is a syndrome, which means that not all symptoms need be present for the condition to exist. some women have all symptoms, some have very few.

>how does pcos affect estrogen and proesterone levels?

PCOS is an endocrine disorder that involves just about every major hormone gland in the body. we tend to not produce enough progesterone to sustain a pregnancy on our own (although it is not always true) and we tend to have normal to high estrogen levels.

one of the major treatments for PCOS right now is a diabetic drug called metformin (glucophage). it seems to lower insulin resistance giving our bodies hormones to regulate. when combined with clomid, many women experience great success in becoming pregnant. i personally became pregnany last november after 7+ years of infertility with glucophage alone.

other women here will probably know more about the specific fertility drugs that are common...i wish you luck! love, paula
