Paula, I don't know how long you want to wait before deciding about another child, but after the birth of my daughter, I had an IUD for a few years. Aside from heavy periods for a few months I didn't have any side effects/ problems. (My gyno explained that current IUDs are nothing like the Dalcon sheild that caused problems a while back.) I liked that it wasn't hormonal, and I didn't have to think about it at all. (there is also a new type of IUD that does contain hormones, but mine didn't.) (I have wondered what if any relationship there was b/n the IUD and the progression of my pcos - but I haven't found anything that relates the 2.)
