Hi Renee, If you read my response to the breathing problems posts-I asked if her tongue was discolored at the time of her breathing problems.I think it is called purpura.(sp).My friend had a similar episode from the pill(a birth control pill) that cause tiny emboli to her lungs.Her tongue was like a violet color and they performed blood gas on her and did a lung scan.Blood thinners were immediately given via IV ...

I think she thought the breathing problems were related to the pill. As we all know;any virus can cause difficulty breathing.

Don't worry about the bluish-purple tongue...it does not apply in your case.It is caused by lack of oxygen.You obviously don't have that.
