Insulin Resistance can cause obesity. Insulin Resistance can also be the cause of PCOS. If the IR is treated with proper medication along with diet and exercise, then the weight gain and PCOS symtpoms can possibly go away or lessen a great deal.

Some doctors claim that if you lose weight, which is hard to do if you are IR, can help PCOS symptoms go away. From my own personal experience, I do not believe this is a long-term answer to the problem as IR just gets worse with time. And then more problems pop up.

Some doctors claim that losing weight if you are obese can help you become pregnant and eliminate inferility. This may be true in some cases. But it still is not the bottom line answer.

I hope this didn't confuse you. Someone else may be able to explain it better than me.
