Barb and others- I am intrigued by this, but just a caution...the article referenced was published in the journal "Medical Hypotheses". It is a legitimate journal, but all of its articles are just that...hypotheses. Please understand I am NOT suggesting there's not validity to this. Many of the hypotheses in that journal have certainly gone on to be supported! Just wanted to point out that this particular article isn't a study result, but a study suggestion.
