Best type of exercises for PCOS

I would like some advice on the best type of exercises for weight control and raising the metabolism with PCOS - i am hypothyroid, insulin resistant and PCOS and suspect that my metabolism is all over the place. I am losing weight on Metformin and by being careful with the carb's and alcohol but I would like to improve my fitness as I am no.1 couch potatoe and work from home so it is easy not to get enough exercise. I have bought a ski machine and rowing machine (...they make great clothes horses!) but wondered if there is anything specific (other than swimming as I am allergic to chlorine) I could be doing?
