Re: Metformin success when unsure about PCOS?(Victoria)From: Joy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 11 Aug 2002 18:01:49 -0500 (CDT)
Victoria, I did call his office, and that is where I found out about the rates. They were outrageous! They also don't bill monthly, unless you do have insurance and they bill for what is not covered, other than that, the lady I spoke to basically said "payment is due when services are rendered". Also, they have mandatory ultrasounds and labs every 4-6 weeks for pcos patients. The lady said that this could run up to over 1000.00 a month. This is *not* counting any infertility treatments. I explained to her, that I have already been under a doctor's care and that I know I am infertile, that I just want to proceed to the next steps of having a baby, ie, clomid..iui, etc...But she made it sound like that I have to have it all or nothing. I was dissapointed. But, I guess for someone who is in high demand, I imagine that helps weed out patients. Otherwise, everyone would be knocking down his door for treatment. Unfortunately, it is definitely out of my range. HOWEVER, the next day I looked through a phone book and found an RE, that is a little bit closer with rates half the price of Dr. Thatcher's. I am very excited about that. My first appointment is August 26. He is not "world renowned", but I think he will be able to help me. They also give a 20 % self pay discount if you pay up front. They do bill, too, but you have to pay full price. Either way, it works with my situation. I just hope he is "cutting edge", if you know what I mean. Thanks for your response!!!! Joy
