Jessica, I've been on glucopage since July 1999, working up to 2200mgs a day. It is best taken with food, watch your sugar and carb intake. You may or may not have diarrea with it, just depends on the person. It also doesn't last forever, just be patient. I've had a slow and steady weight loss since starting the glucopage. I've lost 42pds without much effort, but would lose more if I could exercise more....my dr is excited at my progress, a slow and steady loss is better than a fast loss. I have been trying to walk more as I time goes on, but at such a high weight, it is uncomfortable for me at this point. So I just keep trying to do a little more when I can. Also, my dr pushes water because glucopage works hard through the kidneys..Kristy commented on lactic acidosis, and from what my dr says, it is a very rare result. Hope this helps, and good luck!
