I am being tested for PCOS...From: Kate (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 8 Aug 2002 19:11:37 -0500 (CDT)
I went to my doctor today with the concern of a thyroid condition and after we talked about what was going on with me, I left there being tested for PCOS. Based on symptoms I have had he thought I needed to be tested. I have had a huge weight gain, some facial hair on my jawline and I have been extremely fatigued for a long time... When I was 18 I was about 130, now I am 176. PCOS was not the first thing that came to my mind though. I don't know whether I have irregular periods or not, because I am on birth control, but he said that birth control is the treatment for it if I do have it. I am just so scared I will have it and not be able to have kids. I am only 21 and married for a year and I want kids in the future. I know if I do have it, there are fertility options available, but I am not made of money and I also have a pre-existing factor (I am Rh -) which already would make pregnancy more difficult for me, and now the possibility of this on top of it. I will have to wait 4 days to find out... Anyone else going through this now or does anyone have any advice for me?
