Glucophage or Glucophage XR and dosesFrom: Becky (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 1 Aug 2002 10:39:30 -0500 (CDT)
I started Glucophage 500 mg once a day with instructions to increase it over a period of three weeks to a total of 3 pills, 1500 mg, morning, noon and night. I went back to the office the next week to pick up another perscription because I needed one for our insurance's mail order drug program. I noticed when I got home that it was now perscribed Glucophage XR. I emailed my dr's office and told them that it was a mistake. They emailed back saying that they talked to my NP and she did want me to take 3 500 mg pills of Glucophage XR at dinner. I don't quite understand the sudden change with no explanation. Is it normal to take the XR late at night all at once? Does Glucophage or XR work any better?
