Need education on diabetic neuropathy pleaseFrom: Barb (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 31 Jul 2002 02:45:29 -0500 (CDT)
I need to know from someone that has this. As you all know(leg/feet problems) are persistant. Can someone please tell me or explain to their best ability what their neuropathy feels like?/Is it a numbness or is it overly sensitive or is there loss of sensation with the pains?Does it throb, pulse like a heartbeat?/is it sensitive to coldness?I don't see a neurologist till October. I've been researching to all the archives and really I cannot understand how this diagnosis is given. Some neurologists suspect it if you are IR,or diagnose it with diabetes when severe enough...when the pulses are getting weak in the feet. I am hypersensitive...I feel the slightest things on my feet and legs. Mine does not get worse when lying down.It does take me an hour to finally fall asleep....the pains..pulsating then subsides and lets me rest. This does not seem to fit with neuropathy does it? I automatically warm up..feet and legs and that dreaded pulsing is gone. Mine don't go numb.It is as if I have walked in a forty degree temp with bare legs and they are unthawing...all the time accept when under the covers. Seems to have some pattern with menstral cycle. I don't know what to try in the mean time. Any advice would be much appreciated as I am really at the end of my rope
-- Sincerely, Barb C.
