To Clomid or not to Clomid... kinda longFrom: Sonnet (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 30 Jul 2002 00:36:41 -0500 (CDT)
Just got back from the gyn for my annual this afternoon and I'm irritated... I normally do not feel that much pain from a pap, nor do I bleed so much! I saw a new doctor (one in a medical group of 5; I have seen the other 4 and adore each one of them, they are fabulous!) and I don't trust him much. He didn't pay any attention to my file or even my medical sheet I filled out when I arrived, he didn't know anything about my history etc. So I asked for a refill of my prometrium, since I haven't had a period since April. He told me that bcp's work much better for bringing on periods. I told him no bcp's, just the prometrium thankyou. He said okay, he'd give me something to start my period. He handed me a prescription and walked out. I looked - it is a script for Clomid. Now I guess sure, technically, if you DO ovulate on the Clomid it would induce a period. That or a pregnancy! Soooooo I am trying to think what to do. I asked the pharmacist when I got it filled and she was confused. I called my dad (who has been a pharmacist or pharmacy manager for over 25 years now) and asked him, he said that was a stupid way of bringing on a period. I kind of agree. But finally having some Clomid brings back all the desires I have shoved away after 3 years of TTC and even a failed adoption. I think I want to try it. I have Provera at home. I could induce a period and then take the Clomid and see what happens. I need some dosing info though, from those who have taken it: I have a 5-day run of Provera, then maybe 5 days after that to start my cycle right? Then, when do I take the Clomid? I have 10 pills and instructions to take 2 a day for 5 days. Which days are best? This is a one shot deal, and we're not really fully into the whole TTC thing again, but I'd desperately like to know if it worked for me. And who knows, we may even just get lucky....
