Re: PCOS, blood pressure and BCPFrom: Eileen (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 29 Jul 2002 16:36:51 -0500 (CDT)
Dear CW, Thanks for your response. I just got back from a primary care visit with a physician assistant. I discussed taking Glucophage, but apparently she had gotten a letter from my endocrinologist recommending against me taking glucophage. Wonder why he felt compelled to write her that letter? I did try a very low dose a long time ago for about 8 months and had some side effects of indigestion, but would like to try again since they now have the time release version. The trouble is that no one so far will prescribe it for me, since they say that my fasting insulin is "normal." But I don't know that 12 is really that normal, or that anyone has a reliable way to tell. Plus we have like 3 generations of diabetics in my family! Plus I am 35, and not sure I should be taking BCP indefinintely. The physician assistant said that she did not have enough expertise and to go see an endocrinologist and a gynecologist! Help!
