Question about PCOS, Glucophage, AF, and Testosterone levels :)From: Amber (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 28 Jul 2002 19:18:27 -0500 (CDT)
Hi everyone! I am new to this forum, and newly diagnosed with PCOS, altho I have had these problems for 11 years now. Last year I was placed on Glucophage XR, and took it for a year, and while it reduced my symptoms, it never helped restore my periods. Well in May I was switched to regular Glucophage, 1700mg per day. In June, I got my first period in about FOUR years without any help from bcp's or provera! YAYYYYYYY! At least we know I can still have one right? Well, this month, I think I ovulated late, around CD 27, due to the sudden appearance of ALOT of eggwhite CM, and middle pain. I am now on CD 37, and still no AF :( but of course its only been 10 days since I think I ovulated so I guess thats normal. I also had some tests run by Northwestern University, for a PCOS study, and they told me that my testosterone level before I went back on hte glucophage in May was 147! WHOABABY! But apparently that has dropped because I did have a period in June? LOL! Anyways my question is this: Why would I not have my period this month when I did last? Could my dosage not be high enough or could something else be wrong. I havent gained any weight, as a matter of fact I believe Ive lost some. My other symptoms are almost gone, no real acne, just a few spots, my dark patches have all but disappeared completely, and the light hair on my face has even become more sparse. I never had thin hair on my head to begin with. Is there anyone else out there who started out on Glucophage, and had a period the first month, then all of a sudden, went back to not having periods again? Im so confused? This really throws a kink in the TTC plans! UGHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Any help would be GREAT! :)
