Hi, I've been taking spiro for about 2 years. In the beginning, I had to pee ALL the time, even waking up at night. I would also feel light-headed, seeing "stars" when I would stand up, or bend over. My doctor checked up on me about 2 weeks after I started taking it, and said that the "stars" were because I was most likely dehydrated. Spiro does act as a diuretic, and I knew that explained why I was peeing so much. I drink water constantly now to keep myself hydrated, and the peeing is under control. I may have lost some weight, but not enough to notice.

I've been on the same dosage since the beginning--50 mg. 2x daily. My mom is a nurse and her drug book says it's good to take the pills with food, so I take one with breakfast and the other after dinner. The book also said not to take it too late, or you would need to get up to pee at night. I learned that lesson fast and switched to taking it after dinner!

As for the max. dosage, I don't know what it is, or if I'll ever reach it. I seem to be doing great on the 50 mg. for now. I don't know about the low blood pressure either--sorry! Hope someone else can tell you about that. Hope my info helped you!

Take care, Jen Z.
