A hysterectomy is NOT going to solve your PCOS. It may make things much much worse for you. Your doctors are right - that is a very drastic step and one that doesn't have any real benefits, at least as far as PCOS goes. The only way we really have to treat PCOS now is insulin sensitizing medication. Metformin/Glucophage, Avandia, or Actos. If you didn't like metformin, try one of the others. It takes sometimes quite a long time to see results on metformin, I would say about 6 months for most of the symptoms to really start changing. You have to stick with it. You also have to find the right dose. 1500mg may work for most women but not for all, some need much higher doses than tat. I don't know how much you were on or for how long but this is really the best way of getting your health back. Also there are many low carb diets out there which arenot as strict as ATkin's. Look around, try other things.
