We've discussed this a LOT in the past, so a search of the archives should give you all the info you'd ever want on this subject. Basically, there are two reasons why alcohol and Meta ren't a great combo: 1) Metformin already taxes the liver and adding a bunch of alcohol on top of that can cause problems. I believe they're really talking about binge drinking with this, but your liver may be able to deal with more or less. 2) Alcohol is very quickly processed into sugar in the blood and can raise your glucose levels very rapidly. So one or two drinks might have you feeling awful because of the blood sugar problems as well. Many women on here (myself included) find that being on metformin drastically reduces our tolerance for alcohol; one drink and we're out for the night.
