AndrostenedioneFrom: C.B. (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 8 Jul 2002 16:34:47 -0500 (CDT)
3 years ago I was diagnosed with PCOS. I had many of the classic symptoms and was put on a regimin of birth control pills and spirolactonin to address the skin erruptions and excessive facial hair growth. Later, I was put on metformin which seemed to work for a while, but I stopped taking it after some bad reactions. Diet and medication did not address the weight issue and I realized the shape of my face was actually changing. I went to see a different doctor, took another battery of tests which found that I wasn't insulin resistent (levels were normal) and may not have PCOS after all. I did have very high levels of Androstenedione. Does this mean that I may have Cushing's or an adrenal tumour rather than PCOS? Thanks.
