I am on my second period with Met without the help of provera. So as far as I am concerned yes it works. I haven't gotten the results from my blood tests yet though. Side effects: bad bowel trouble for me. I had to increase my dosage a lot slower than the doctor suggested. I only have bowel trouble if I eat really fatty food or forget to take food with my pill. Althought the met is not a weight loss drug it CAN help some people to lose weight. I have lost 16lbs but I am leveling off I think. You still need to exercise and eat healthy. Hope this helps.
