Hi!

My husband and I have also taken an extended break from actively trying to conceive. We had some personal problems that lead us to take a break.

When I called my doctor and spoke to a nurse about stopping my treatment cycle and taking a break I asked her if it was common for people to "take a break". She said that it was a fairly common occurance. She also said that it was not necessary to "give your body a break" and that it does not benefit the body to do it in small chunks rather than one huge chunk and that sometimes it is better for you to keep on going because your case is fresh in your doctor's mind and they will have you on the forefront of their memory - what they've tried, what they haven't, etc.

I do agree with you that treatments are expensive. After speaking to a few women at my clinic I found out that I had about the best insurance coverage out of all of the ladies there and we could still barely afford the out of pocket costs (hundreds per month).

My husband and I are still discussing all of our options including IVF and adoption. God bless, Tera
