Since it was my recollection that Dr. Atkins did NOT have a heart attack, I
did a search on Metacrawler and found this link:

This article states that Dr. Atkins suffers from cardiomyopathy. Dr Atkins
says he has suffered from an infection of the heart for several years and,
as such, claims that his diet did not cause this condition.
I am also not a low-carber, but wanted to point out that I had heard an
opinion on this incident differing from what you have stated.
