Glucometers are great! I have had one for years (longer than that I geuss, since my mom is a diabetic and I always checked mine when I was a kid) and it really helps me. I find that keeping track of it helps to recognize, without even checking, when I'm too low and when I'm too high. It's worth knowing! Then you get to the point where, when you're super cranky and ready to kill your husband, you eat some almonds instead and feel fine in 10 minutes. It can be a lifesaver that way.

Don't have much info about your other questions - hope you get some answers!
