Insulin Resistant Question

From: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)

I just found out from my doc that I am insulin resistant, although blood sugar levels and thyroid are just fine. Plus I don't get periods. I am considerably overweight, but not obese. I am just wondering--does the PCOS cause the weight gain and insulin thing, or has my increased weight caused my PCOS?

Thanks.
