Hello Everyone, I too like Dona have been in the dental field for over 20 years and have never heard of any relationship between IR and TMJ or TMD. Having a nightguard or bite plate made is probably the best thing you can do for your self, I wear one, but I also take a muscle relaxer at night, no one can control what they do when sleeping, if the night guard does nothing else for you at least it will save your teeth from wear and tear and expensive dentistry to fix it. If your jaw is sore you may want to try a soft diet for a few days and try to limit how wide you open your mouth to yawn or to bite that big grinder,in other words try not to over extend or work your jaw for a week or so. Warm packs on your face help too. I know when my jaw does become sore I immediately get a migraine, the jaw can and does for many people set of a migraine. A night guard is well worth the investment. Depending on which state you live in a lot of dental plans are paying for them to be made now. That is certainly true in MA. Feel free to email me if anyone has any other questions on dental stuff..... glad to help out if I can. Joanne At Sat, 22 Jun 2002, anonymous wrote: >
