Neuropathy - To Clara, Barb, and everyoneFrom: cw (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 22 Jun 2002 07:57:02 -0500 (CDT)
OK it's official. I have been diagnosed with diabetic neuropathy and fibromyalgia by my wonderful kind neurologist who believes me and listens to me. The nerve conduction tests all came out normal. The neuropathy is mainly effecting my calves and feet, giving my feet a painful warm tingly feeling in the feet, extreme tightness in my calves, and achilles pain. The fibromyalgia is what targets the trigger points in the body and then causes the muscle pain and spasms from that point. Insulin related? Yes, so my doctor says. My doctor put me on neurontin 300 mg. I went OFF the Pamelor as it was causing my heart to race. Clara, I'll let you know how to neurontin works for me. I also took it upon myself to ask the doctor for a massage Rx if he thought that would benefit me. He said absolutely. So I took the Rx to a physical therapist, and now I'm getting my calves, feet, and back massaged along with electrical stim 3 times a week and it is exactly what I needed. Ahhhh. Sigh of relief. So far I have read that low carb dieting and a variety of exercise and stretching helps these problems, especially the fibromyalgia. I do that already. But I am going to also buy a book on the subject that looks interesting and do all I can, whatever it takes, to keep myself healthy, and continue to enjoy the things I love to do without pain. Those are my experiences and thoughts for the day with the hope that someone may also be able to benefit. See the junk that IR can cause besides pcos? Ugh.
