Hi everyone,
Its been a while since I posted but have been reading the board... I
just thought I would comment on the grinding and clenching problems...
I am a Registered Dental Assistant for 14 yeas. I have never heard of
IR being linked or related .I asked my boss today about this and he has
never heard of this being related eigther.Although STESS is the number
one cause of teeth grinding and clenching and dealing with a serious
illness such as PCOS on a day to day basis can get you very stressed out
...(that is part of why I have not been posting!). Usually it is done
in your sleep or even while awake with some of us ... you should notice
that this subsides when on vacation or when you put your worries aside
(or have found out your IR and PCOS is getting better). We recommend
Biofeedback and stress management to our patients with TMD problems.
(btw TMJ stands for temporal mandibular Joint... TMD is what is caused
by grinding and clenching which is temporal mandibular disorder or the
wear on your jaw joint and teeth). If you are noticing any jaw pain or
headaches please consult your dentist about getting a night gaurd...
this can help save your jaw and teeth.Unfortunately not many dental
insurances pay for these but they are well worth the 500.00+ price tag.
Anyhow if anyone can forward me a link to a sutdy on PCOS and TMD I
would appreciate it... but I dont think there is one.
