Sophy, I did! My level was 90 on lowcarb alone but it was 180 on high carb dieting plus Glucophage. I don't know if the diet or the drug made it worse, or if both together didn't work. I am now a believer not only in lowcarb, but in lowcarbing when using insulin sensitizer therapy.

I took 2 mg Avandia plus 1000 mg Glucophage XR and became pregnant in two months' time--this tells me that Avandia did indeed get my testosterone down from 90! My endocrinologist says it needs to be below 30 for a good ovulation; somewhere in the teens is optimal. They used to say that anything over 50-55 was high but now they say it needs to be under 30. My doctor didn't want me to use Avandia alone because taking it with Glucophage can help keep Avandia from causing any weight gain. Avandia works on the muscle tissue and Glucophage works on the liver. These are the two body tissues that can store sugar as glycogen and the drugs tell them not to store so much; this makes insulin go down.

I had a happy little girl last month! She's just great. I want to go back on Avandia ASAP since it clearly did good things for my health. But for once in my life I'll need some birth control--this is a pretty weird thing for me to get my head around. Anyway, I know lots of other ladies on another board who successfully lowered their testosterone on Avandia too, either alone or with Glucophage. The problem with using antiandrogens for this (like Spironolactone/Aldactone) is that they don't actually reduce your circulating levels, they just block its action on your tissues so you see improvement. The root cause never gets treated as it does with Avandia.

Hope this helps!
