Soo, I got on the BCP, got on a diet (er, _lifestyle_ change), and I'm in the third week of my first pack. There are still some hormonal issues (argh), but my major concern is actually with swelling and LOTS of pain in my lower abdomen.

>> Ask to try another pill due to swelling.

Do functional cysts burst and cause swelling in some cases?

>> Unless you had OHSS, I wouldn't think that bad.

What else causes symptoms of mild nausea and weakness, with abdominal pain and noticable swelling?

>> Getting used to some pills. Abdominal pain can be a sign of something else.

Its not listed in the medical literature with the BCP, but has anyone else had this as a side effect of the pills who has been diagnosed with polycystic ovaries?

>> Only in the first couple months.

So, how do y'all deal with the "hysterical woman" or "Hypocondriac" assumption by some doctors? How do you keep up the courage and the determination to keep trucking along until someone does listen? I'll admit, I'm pretty disheartened. I'm worried about the pain and the causes, but I'm tired of being told to wait... because that's what I'm doing, and it isn't getting better after nearly a week.

>> I don't get it because of the approach I take with the doctors and the symptoms. Sorry I can't be of much help there.
